The challenges are particularly daunting for the Jackson kids, with no mother in the picture, custody issues, and unanswered questions ranging from Jackson’s suspected drug use to whether he was even their biological father.

The discovery was made after a computational analysis that found the chemical structure of the two Parkinsons drugs might work to thwart the TB enzyme InhA, which previous research had determined to be a prime target in treating the disease.

The same marijuana smoke that doctors can recommend to ease cancer patients’ suffering must soon come with a warning saying it causes the disease.

Health Tip: Understanding Pre-Diabetes

Normally, a persons blood sugar (glucose) is 100 mg/dl or below. When it rises to between 100 mg/dl and 125 mg/dl, a person has pre-diabetes. Once a blood test determines that blood sugar is 126 mg/dl or higher, diabetes is diagnosed, the ADA says.

“The links between type 2 diabetes and excess weight are well documented, but are less clear in type 1,” said lead researcher Dr. Lenna Liu of the Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development at Seattle Childrens Hospital, in a news release from the journals publisher.

New Drug Could Work Against Leukemia

When AML-LSCs from human patients were transplanted into mice, those treated with 7G3 survived longer than mice that didnt receive the antibody. The researchers found that 7G3 blocked a signaling pathway in tumor cells, impaired migration of AML-LSCs to bone marrow and activated the immune system to destroy AML-LSCs.
Fertility drug combo promising in older women

Dr. Mohamed A. Bedaiwy from the Toronto Center for Advanced Reproductive Technologies, Toronto, and colleagues took a look back at a group of infertile women aged 40 and older who had controlled ovarian stimulation using FSH alone or in combination with Femara, followed by intrauterine insemination.

Botched circumcisions leave 31 dead in S.Africa

“This is a grim situation that we deal with every year, the health department has rescued hundreds of boys from schools run by unscrupulous surgeons,” he said.

Bedwetting, being overweight linked to sleep apnea

In a “case-control” study, Dr. Joseph G. Barone, of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and colleagues performed overnight sleep studies in 149 children between the ages of 5 and 15 with OSA, and 139 matched control children.
